I just bought a 2012 Gran Sport with an issue with the electric top. I knew there was an isue when I bought the car.

I took it to the local Chevy dealer and they have found two sensors that have failed. And the bad news is the sensor has been discountinued from GM.

The two sensors are:

GM 19120624

GM 19180913

Does anyone have a source for getting these sensors?

Try looking on RockAuto - they seem to have everything.  Checking the major Corvette parts outfits would be next.

Common issue. GM has discontinued many parts for the C6.

I had an issue with the top sensor where it makes contact with the windshield. The sensor that the "pin" of the top fits into was broken. It kept sending back the "Top not closed" message.

After searching the country for this part I was able to track down TWO of them at junk yards.

My suggestion: Find junk yards that have a convertible C6 and they should have it.  

There are MANY yards that specialize in the C6.

I did find the 5-bow sensor and tonnequ cover sensopr and took them to the local Chey delear who was doing the work. After almost 4 weeks, I got a call from the service advisor that that to spring steel of tyhe tonneau cover sensor went flying off and the tech could not find it, And the parts dept was unable to find a replacement sensor.

I went to get the car back since nothing was happening. When I got the car back, I now have a "Top Not Secure" message on the DIC. This wasm't happening before I took the car in. Not only do I have the message but the trunk release button does not wotrk with the top up and locked. When I manually lower the top, the trunk release button works.

Does this mean the sensor at the windshield is bad?

Yes it does. The sensor on the drivers side @ the windshield frame is not closing when the "pin" from the top is inserted into it when the top is closed.  That is causing the exact same problem I had.  BTW, my problem was also caused by the dealer. They tried to take the sensor apart and broke the plastic cover. They then tried to glue it back together. LOL!  Poorly I might add. They then gave me back the car and told me they couldn't fix it.  Being a novis in sourcing the C6 parts at that time, I called every Vette parts dealer in the country. Nobody had it.  GM discontinued it.  It left me with 2 choices: Jump the switch and make it inoperable, or start scouring junk yards for the switch.  

I went on Car-Part and looked for C6 convertible tops.  I found 2 yards in the midwest that had a full top system. They both had the part I needed. I bought both of them.  $ 30 buck for one and $40 bucks for the other.  

Installed it and problem solved.  

Thanks for the info. I have no idea why they were messjing with the sensor at the windshield. There was nothing to indicate the the problem I was having had to do with the top secure sensor.

How did you get to the sensor? Does the trim remove easily revealing access to the sensor?

I think the main problem that prompted me to take the car in for repair is the position sensor for the tonneau cover. I think the spring steel of the sensor is missing or broken. But I don't know where the sensor is located. I want to purchase a det of shop manuals, but I haven't brought myself to spend about $500, yet.

It's literally a 10 minute job max.

Very simple job.

Remove the sun visor. 

The hardest part is removing the trim piece at the top along the wind shield. Use a trim tool and it pops right off. You only have to do the drivers side of the trim piece, not the whole piece. 

Once that allows access to the switch/sensor, it's 2 torx bolts. Remove the 2 bolts and the whole switch/sensor comes out. 

Unplug it, plug the new one in and reinstall.

Took me 10 minutes.

Problem solved.

Call junk yards that have a C6 top in stock. They will have the piece.
