I'm going to put an aftermarket cold air intake system on my '05 Z51 Coupe.  But, there are so many different makes and set-ups out there that I don't know which one to choose.  Does anyone who has experience with these know which one works the best on the '05.

I did a lot of research and it appears as though the VaraRam Gen2 "Snake Charmer" Ram Air System (2005-2007 Corvette) is the one to go after.  I am ordering one today. Smile

Have either of you guys installed this system? What do you think of the install and results? I have a 2005 that I would be installing on.

First of all, I'k like to thank George for his response regarding the Vararam 2 Snake Charmer.  I've been doing some research also and I see that you have to cut part of the schroud in order to install the Snake Charmer.  I don't know if I want to do that.  But, the test results listed on their website look impressive and I'm leaning that way.  It sure looks like it should work better than the others with the intake duct right down next to the grill.  I haven't ordered one yet.  Has anyone installed one who could report on their results?

Hi there. You can buy a pre cut shroud if you want in order to keep your stock one intact.A shroud from the dealer is only about 40 bucks +- anyway.I had a VARARAM on my 05 and it works as advertised.I would recommend that when you get you Vram you check the middle part where the insulation thing is.Some of these systems have lousy quality in that area. You can take it off and re glue it if necessary. When you do the install,if you elect to cut your shroud, make sure you put something behind it otherwise you risk cutting your ac condensor which has happened to a few people. It's about a 700 dollar fix!!Good luck and enjoy.

this Vararam system on 06 z51 is excellent and never disappoints. Installation takes a bit of time but worth it. I had trouble with a too short connector in package but they sent another very quickly. Had the system about a year before installing  so good after market support from maker. They are always willing to help with installation issues. Advice below on shroud is good advice.
Reusuable filter easy to clean with soap and water.
You will be happy with this. Take the plunge.
