Has anyone experienced this headlight fogging problem after the car has gotten wet or spent the night out? A month ago I posted this problem and received one reply that they did in one of the coves but it disappeared after a month. Mine is seven weeks old and it seems to be disappearing but is still a little visible.

I have not experienced any other problems after 1400 miles and I really do like this car!

Is that fog inside your headlight? If it is that sounds like it would be the gasket and they should replace it under warranty. |saluteflag|

The moisture WILL disappear over time ... but it's not supposed to be getting in their to begin with. As noted ... it's a gasket / seal problem.

Redball....

Here is text from the Chevy Dealer's 2005 Corvette New Service and Pre-Delivery Information, under 'unique vehicle characteristics'....

"HEADLAMP CLOUDINESS: The headlamps feature clear polycarbonate lense. Customer may note that when the lamps are on, light fog or cloudiness may be visible on the lenses. This is a normal condition caused by out gassing. The headlamps are also vented, thus some condensation/moisture may be seen when humidity is high or there is a change in temperature. The moisture should burn off after one hour of headlamps being turned on. All components for the headlamps are serviced separately and complete assemblies should never be required for warranty repairs."

Hope this helps.... |thumb|

Thanks for the heads up on the Dealer Technical Bulletin. After two months, the fogging seems to have disappeared. Should I be wondering why since they say its normal to outgas and the fixture is vented?

Whatever...This will now not be reason for my first warrenty repair issue. After 1800 miles, no warrenty issues have arisen. What a car!!!

Well, if it's supposed to be that way ... I'd think it's a design flaw. Kind of like ... "Yes, Mr. Johnson, that new 500HP engine is great ... except ... when you turn it off ... it will stutter and clatter for about 3 minutes, before the engine finally stops". Technology shouldn't have deficits!

Foggy Headlamp Update: The problem has completely disappeared this past month. Apparently its only a temporary problem on new cars which eventually goes away.

I have 2500 miles on the car and have not experienced any warranty repair problems. I love it!!! |thumb|

The only way(s) for the problem to have gone away are:

1) Gasket/seal has moved, or was adjusted, and is now a tight seal (no longer allows moisture into the compartment)

2) Gasket/seal has been replaced

3) Not gone away ... just not exposed to moisture any more (weather dependent)

I work with the company that supplies the headlamps. The lens is glued to the housing so there is no gaskets to be replaced there. The vent is a small patch on the back of the housing. It is like a very small mess screen material. The only gaskets are on the covers where the wires and blub sockets attach to the back of the housing. It is possible for them to not seal if not installed correctly.

Thanks Brian. Whatever caused the original problem appears to have gone away. At least I know there is a vent always open. Replacing the lamp seals you mentioned, that could be installed improperly, would not seal the cove area.
