Changing out the exhaust on my Z51 C6. Any feedback Borla vs Corsa? What's the upside of replacing from cat back?nullnull

It depends on if you can stand a resonance sound at 1600-2000 rpm. I wouldn't give either a credible jump in Hp or torque only an increase in "power sound" often called noise. Supposedly the resonant free version is Corsa Sport. Call both and flat out ask them how their product is on "droning." Indeed, some people don't mind a droning (actually a resonant build up in sound level). Automatics seem to get the most complaints on droning. |thumb|

Thus starts the debate on personal opinions of "what sounds good". I would suggest that you listen to each before purchase. Some sites have this option available to the purspective buyer. |headscratch|

Personally I think listening to exhausts any other way than in the car is VERY misleading most of the time. Satisfaction with louder than stock exhausts are as much a part of harmonics and drone as sound. If an exhaust makes jelly out of your brain after 30 minutes, it doesn't matter how it sounds. I've had every brand of exhaust on one of my Vettes or another, and I still won't generalize as to the best. My C6 GHL system is great for me, i.e. big block sound with minimal drone or harmonics, but it may not be the answer for everyone. I highly recommend going to a show or cruise to sample the systems first-hand, and try to experience 1,300 - 1,500 RPM, which is the typical drone area.

I'll pipe in and agree with catbert. my C3 sounded great when I got it from standing next to it, but I didn't ride in it and think about the exhaust until a few weeks later (had to be fixed a bit to be legal) when I drove it on a 1500 mile round trip...at 55, 65 and 75 it was painfully loud, at 50, 60 and 70 not as bad, but I still had ringing ears for a few days.

Point is, what sounds good from out back, may be very bad inside.

(The problem was a pair of rusted out headers...now replaced)
