I have been away from the site for some time and actually thought I had commented on this.
I bought my red 66-390 vert in 1970 so it is part of the family. I was to the 20th reunion of the 66's at Bowling Green and the 25th at Bloomington.(Driven ,of course.)
I bought my project silver 66-425 coupe in 1979 and sold it in May 2005. All I was able to do to it was strip the paint and gather some parts. The new owners are excited and are hot on the rebuild.
I planned my 84 seven years before it was built when I read in Vette Vues that a new model was coming in 1983. It is white with light gray and is up to 29K miles. About ready to replace the original tires. It has been to Bowling Green for the Opening and 5th Anniversaries. The rest of the miles have been to shows and events. The only problems were a poorly installed transmission gasket, collapsed lifter at 1200 miles, and having to re-oil the compressor before each 16,000 miles. (Learned this from others so it hasn't siezed up for me.)
Plan to order an 08 for a retirement present. Will be doing the R8C option. I have been to the factory enough times that I could maybe give tours. I really enjoy those workers and the work they do. Ernest Foote's name is on my autograph model as well as about 50 other people that have contributed to the Corvette or hobby.
Slow day or I wouldn't have rambled on like this.

I am on my fifth !!
Gotta love it !!

I am on my third. I bought a 1960 convertible in May of 1962. It eventially morphed into a 327 fuelie with 30/30 Duntov and wide ratio 4 speed. I sold it in 1967 and ordered a 1968 427/435. The order was cancelled and I wrote a letter to Ed Cole complaining about their big dealer favorites. I included the Corvette owner card from the 1960 and they reinstated the order. I got the '68 in May and quality control was really pathetic. GM and the UAW could sell every one they made so they just threw them together. It went in '72 before our first was born.
32 years later...
I got the C6 A6 last October at the museum. It was done right with care.

Curt Franz LeMans Blue Coupe born on Sept 15th, 2005
I'm on numbers 3 and 4 right now!
I had a '72 convertible in high school(1975/6), and a '72 street/drag car in the late '70s/early '80s.
I now have a '74 coupe, and an '85 coupe...all are/were RED, except the first '72, which was Ontario Orange.
I'm sure there are more to come, somewhere down the line. Once you get Corvette in your blood, nothing else compares.

2, or actually 1...the 64 is mine, the 89 was my wife's car. But she couldn't drive it anymore because of her health problems.
