Painting Corvettes at the Bowling Green, Kentucky;

"The body painting process is quite complex and is done by twenty-five different computer controlled robots on a dedicated line that is ten miles long and sealed off from the remainder of the plant to help control airborne contaminants. All parts are primed in gray, white or red, depending on what color they are destined to be.

After primer is applied the parts go into a drying oven for thirty minutes at 250 degrees F. Clear coats cover the color and the parts make one final trip to the oven. All paint products utilized at Bowling Green are supplied by DuPont (go U.S.A!). From start to finish the complete process to paint one car takes ten hours and entails painting sixteen different panels."

All sixteen panels come onto the assembly line downstream to unite with the chassis at the correct time.
