One Ebay and also on one of the other Corvette forums, I learned that a guy in New Jersey has developed and is selling a much-improved front license plate frame for the C6. It mounts on the lower bumper, not on the nose.
The Ebay copy reads: "This is the answer to the C6 License Plate problem. If you don't want to mount the License Plate on the top of the nose, this is the option for you. This has been designed to mount on the lower bumper. You can use double back tape, screws that will be unseen, or even Velcro. I have one on my car, everyone likes it much better than the stock one. Don't let the dealer put the plate on!!! . . . Patent Pending"
I ordered one from him, and am expecting to get it next week.
I'm sure that he won't mind that I passed along his contact info, so if you'd like to learn more, send an email to shopman1@hotmail.com, and he'll send you the same info that he sent to me.

Any pictures available?
I had seen some time ago, on a different forum, pictures of the stock-supplied frame mounted horizontally under the lower nose piece using two of the self-stick tabs and one hidden screw into the bottom of the facia... Two holes for the license plate mounting were tapped into the "top" of the frame (now the front)... It looked great... The curvature of the frame still fit perfectly with the curvature of the facia...
The only concern I had was that, unless some sort of stiffener were used, that the plate would tend to vibrate in the wind and would eventually weaken, since it was being held only by the two bottom screws.

I am expecting to receive mine in the mail this week. After I install it, I'll take some pics of my own and pass them on. I'll also pass along my comments, after I've had a chance to see how well it works.

Thanks for the info.
I still don't understand why the design team didn't take the front plate bracket into more consideration. I think the majority of states require a front plate.

I found the links (below) to the alternative mounting of the stock bracket mentioned in my earlier post above...

I put some pics of my alternate front plate installation on a website.
It is an interesting design and quality construction. I used "Industrial Strength" Velcro on both the vertical and horizontal wing surfaces as I really couldn't figure out how to get screws in there. I'll keep an eye on it, but I think the Velcro will work fine.

I saw the pics posted by Wafflekyd. Looks like HEAVY DUTY stuff! My only concern would be potential damage if you hit a bump, or low spot in the road (culvert)? By that, I mean, would this frame break away ...perhaps damage the grille or valance ... or get torn off and cause potential damage to the undercarriage? This plate looks lower than the valance. I admit ... it looks better (location wise) ... but the pics up close make it look like aband-aid approach. Perhaps its a temporary cost to pay? Somebody should smack Chevrolet upside the head for this situation!
