Painting at the Bowling Green plant. The C-6 body painting process is a real complex process. It is done by twenty-five different computer controlled robots on a dedicated line that is miles long and sealed off from the remainder of the plant to help control airborne contaminants. All parts are primed in gray, white or red, depending on what color they are destined to be. After parts are primed the parts go into a drying oven for thirty minutes at 250 degree F. Color coats ar next applied and the parts make one final trip to the oven. All paint products utilized at Bowling Green are supplied by DuPont. From start to finish the complete process to paint one car takes ten hours and entails painting sixteen different panels.

Will this make for a better paint job than what we are currently seeing with the C5?
U.S. EPA regualtions presumably more strict than they are in Europe has made for lack luster paint jobs on our cars particularly our Vettes. Loads of orange peel and lack of depth/richness. You know the issues.
Does this mean the Corvette is moving towards better paint quality?
Thanks for the update.
