Vette(s): 2009 Atomic Orange Convertible
I was wondering if there are any owners out there that have experience with NPP exhaust and after market exhaust (on the C6)??????? (or have both systems) I bought my first Vette this  past summer (after waiting 40 years!!!) and it has the NPP option. While the system sounds great, what I don't like bout it is that I have to rev the engine up to (and over) 3500 rpm so it will open the baffles for performance mode. I know I can buy a remote to turn-off the system. I was wondering if the other after market systems allow the engine to produce anymore ponies than the NPP (code for factory performance exhaust). The NPP allows the engine to make 6 hp more.  I like hearing that awesome sound of the V8 so I know that after market exhaust would not be a problem as far as hearing that rumble all the time. Anyone out there with knowledge of NPP and aftermarket ?????  Thanks....Tim in Pottsboro, Texas orange09ragtop2009-12-31 19:59:12

Hi Tim,
There are mod kits out there for as high as $200, but I made my own for just a few dollars with a switch and fuse bypass from any auto parts dealer. If you want to just try it before deciding there is a fuse that you can pull from the fuse panel in front of the passengers feet. I am out of town right now and can not find the web site that has step by step do it your self instructions. I will find my copy when I get home and post on the web site here.

I love this mod and run with it open most of the time, but the drone can get anoying at times, so it is very handy to turn off when needed. Another advantage is you can close when police are around so as not to attract attention. I had an aftermarket exhaust on my 86 and I vowed never again. After that my 94, 01, 05 were left stock. Now my 10 has the both of two worlds.

Hi Tim,
Go to   http://www.netwelding.com/Reports_Vette_Info.htm   page down to Dual Mode Exhaust with Hidden Switch How To  I did not install my switch in the cup holder like they did but in the upper right side of the center console. The show you which fuse to pull if you just want to try open to see whether you want the mod or to change the exhaust. I would save the old exhaust in case you want to change back.
