The 4-Speed automatic transmission option (MX0) is expected on approximately 65% on C-6's.
Note: This is an option at an additional cost.

The automatic transmission used in the C-6 is the new Hydra-Matic 4L65-E which is an upgraded version of the C-5 4L60-E. Its a four speed automatic that is strengthed and up-dated to support the LS2 torque of 400 lbs per feet.

Since I have seen the C6 prices on another site it looks like the auto trans is a no cost option

That is great new!!

Today's Detroit News reports that the 2005 Corvette Couope price is $44,425, including destination charge. An updated automatic transmission will be a no-cost option. The new 2005 Corvette base model includes a six-speed transmission that was a $915 option on the 2004 model.
Convertible prices start at $52,245.
Hope this helps!
Zippy :) :)

So we have read. However there is another "trick" to making an automatic stand up to torque (or better yet downshifting at full throttle...ie passing gear). That would be the retarding of the ignition timing during the shift. There are thoughts that GM has done this even more on the supercharged Pontiac 3.8. It seems that it is no faster this year although rated at some 20 HP more than last year.
