With the HP being upped with the C6, I wonder if Chevy has decided to make the manual trans stronger than the one in the C5-Z06? Seems like everybody (including me) has had trouble with the carbon fiber synchros and the aluminum shift forks. I talked with the vettetech that rebuilt my trans and he told me that chevy went for easier shifting rather than durability. I'm hoping they don't make the same mistake. The dealers are rebuilding a lot of C5 tranny's with broken forks/synchros/gears. What's your opinion?

I made a reply to your post yesterday and it apparently has been removed. Let me say it another way. I have talked to my Chevy salesman at Royal Chevrolet in NJ who is also in a Corvette club and no one in his club or at the dealer has had the transmission trouble alluded to. The guts of the six speed are those used by the Viper also. I just can find no such troubles as:
The dealers are rebuilding a lot of C5 tranny's with broken forks/synchros/gears.
How many cases do you know of?

Also, if you go to the Z06vette.com or corvette forum.com
I had looked in the Corvetteforum before responding. Since they are all Z06 that you speak of I think somebody is pushing the shifts pretty hard. After doing that and repairing my own I don't do that any more.
