The C-6 chassis is the result of lessons learned in Corvette C5-R racing.

Quote and Source: for Vettes only; May 2004, Vol. 29, No.6.

"Backbone construction creates a lighweight, highstrength chassis with hydro fromed steel frame rails, cored composite floors, an enclosed center tunnel, a rear mounted transmission and aluminum cockpit. The front rails, front bumpers and hood hinges are stronger than C5 counterparts, resulting in a chassis that is more robust yet shorter and lighter than it predecessor.

The short long arm and transverse leaf spring indpendent suspension remains, but the control arms, springs, dampers, bushings, stabilizer bars and steering gear are all redesigned.

Extended Mobility Tires that use the latest rubber compounds for run flat capability help in tuning the suspension for greater lateral acceleration, more body control, a more relaxing ride, less road noise and better traction and stability in cormers.

Suspension and steering geometry are optimized for better handling and ride. New directional control arm bushing are used. With greater clearance in the job knuckles and dampers, increased suspension travel has been achieved.

The front and rear springs rates have also been tuned to take advantage of the greater travel of the suspension. The result is a Vette that is more poised at highter limits of handling."

Hope you pass the ASE Certified Master Automobile Technicians test!
