I doubt that their cruisers will go 170?

Having said that it would have been UGLY with a cop around, I jokingly responded that the cop "would have have loved to get his cruiser up to 170 as well.  Heck, he may have wanted to race you for pink slips!" ... then also inserted the Rolling On The Floor Laughing emoticon.  A little dry humor

I didn't really imply the cruiser would actually get to 170.  Then again, the Atlantic City (NJ) PD utilizes a C5 Corvette - painted in traditional black and white police paint scheme - to pounce on the Pennsylvania locals speeding to the NJ shore!  I have no idea if it is a stock C5.

Dave-The reason you are not seeing as good gas mileage as the others-the 2010 gs has 3.42 rear gears.I believe your other ones have 2.56 rear gears. That is where you are losing mpg.

Mine is a 6 speed auto so I think that is a different ratio. The others are 4 speed auto with Z51 performance axle so off hand I think the axle ratios are the same. Could be wider body and tires, also horsepower difference.

Davetx-Hows that GS DOING? Looks like the weather is finally breaking around here. How have you and the new toy been doing this winter?

Hi GSRoadster,

Eat your heart out, I drove with the top down today. 4000 miles and I love it, best vette I have owned. I have the optional exhaust and wired it with a over ride switch which I run open most of the time, reminds me of the old hot rod days. The car keeps a big smile on my face. I am keeping my 2005 Convertable to leave in Texas for driving while I am there. Leaving in 2 weeks for two months. I will miss the GS dearly. The only draw back is the open road gas mileage, not as good as my 2001 or 2005 and they are both Z51 with the lower gear ratio. The mileage seems to be improving the longer I own it. My service writer says give it untill 7,000 miles.

Enjoy,

Dave

Dave- You are killing me! I have not got to have the THRILL of top down weather yet! I cant wait for that first 80 degree day! I drove it last fall-early winter-with the top down, but still just barely 70 degrees outside that day. Dont look for me the first warm day we get- I will be gone all day with the car in TOP DOWN MODE!!!!!My car already has a little over 2700 miles on it. I know all about that smile you are talking about. I just unhooked the 2 small vacuum lines at the rear exhaust to have mine run open all the time, sounds MUCH better. Talk to you soon,Greg
