I am very surprised about how much media attention the fact that its a fake got. Although some magazines apparently bought the pictures off of innocent bystanders and such. Its not a bad publicity stunt in the end. For winding road, the online only mag that pulled it off.

I was surprised what a profound impact it would have though for those who are seeking coverage of this car. It wasted their time shooting pics of it & puts possibly their reputations as cameramen on the line. That is not the kind of publicity the WR would want....
Well, the thing is, none of the shots that were published were from the "known" spy shot photographers. From what I've read at least the major players in that sense all turned down purchase of the photos which were primarily taken by amatuers.
The crew at Winding Road seems to be ascribing to the theory of any publicity is good publicity. They're also (according to their article) trying to prove a point to General Motors. People are excited about the possiblity of a Corvette above and beyond the current models available. I'm not sure that I think GM should be spending development effort at this point to give a range topping C6. I would expect that they would be more likely to spend the development time on the C7.
In any case, it shows excitement for the Corvette and hopefully this excitement will translate into continued development and production of the Corvette for decades to come.

I agree Scott I hope Gm continues to Build these type cars. If they build them a buyer will come...

hi all
matt in nc here, i was sucked in the sky shots like everyone else, but it seems that will possibly be the 2009 CR06 or the Z07, i have seen a picture of a mockup, looks a lot like the C6R, including the BBS wheels, and vents on the fenders...but the term blue devil refers to tom wallace being a duke alum..i have heard it called project sting ray as well, though i think blue devil is what i buy more...
i think it was be an incredible car at 645-650HP, a steal for 100K, definitely casing porshe and ferrari in that range...but GM will make it comfortable too...we rick hendrick's original chevy dealership here, so i suspect he will have one roped off if it ever comes off the production line..
