The "glass" in the rear hatch of a C5R is not glass ... but a lighter component. The fuel tank, and other essential components are just under the rear hatch ... and easy access is crucial! In the Grand Am SUPER class ... I have only seen Coupes. If they used Z06's, I think the access scenario would pose a problem. Please see http://www.ccdv.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2214 for a thread of pictures, including the area in question.

If you step down into the GT classes (where they use more stock components, etc), you tend to see more Z06's. I have pics of an awesome C5R (Watkins Glen, June 2003). LMK if you want a set e-mailed (have to resize them first).

Why should it have to? The idea is to build a light weight high performance sports car. Why start with a cd that handicaps the performance? The HP will be whatever they can get past the EPA. The smoother the envelope, the better the performance.

The notchback is as dead as the popup headlights.

I wonder if they will only start out with a coupe and vert... and wait till the z comes out for the FRC and then modify it altogether somehow...

The rumor I heard at the 50th.. just people's conversations, that the Z06 will look different than the normal C6 model... hmmmm... who really knows..
