I have a 2005 coupe (No 26)precision red with all options except navigation, glass top, and Z51 suspension. A couple of weeks ago, I punched it to pass a couple of cars. All of a sudden, all hell broke loose and things began hitting the underneath of the car and blue smoke was trailing me. I knew what had happened. The engine destroyed itself. I walked the shoulders and picked up a few handfuls of aluminum schrapnel and what appeared to be a wrist pin. After washing all of the oil off of the underbody, I crawled under to take a look. The front of the engine had a large hole in the block and oil pan. I bought the car with 31,500 miles on it and now have twice that much. Thank God for extended warranties and for giving me enough sense to buy one. The engine required complete replacement. Has anyone else had this problem? I would like to speak to someone with the Corvette plant to discuss this problem and get more information about this car. It could be the lowest serial number 2005 on the road. Can anyone refer me to someone associated with the Corvette plant that I could talk to?

23,000 miles here. No problems. I wonder what kind of life the first 31,000 miles of your car had. Maybe it was thrashed????

The 05's had a problem with the harmonic balancer coming off. Maybe this was a part of your problem??????
