Vette(s): 1979 "Corvette Red" Coupe
According to America's Sports Car magazine, Dave Hill gave some info on the C6 during the C5 birthday bash. I'm not sure how much of this is new to you all, but I figured I'd post the info:
* It will be released first as Coupe, then a Convertible, with the Z06 following a year later.
* The interior spaciousness in the passenger and cargo areas will be "just as strong".
* Trim down the exterior to make it lighter and more agile.
* All new interior colors.
* Quieter
* Still have an analog speedometer
* Will have a "next generation" heads-up display.

Re: Quieter.
I think he was referring to interior sound level and some of the inside sound grimlins like, trans noise, that have plagued the C5. No doubt there will be some interior sound reduction benefits from the XLR development.
Around town, top off windows down I love to hear my vette. But cruising from So Cal up to Laguna Seca for the Monterey Historic Races (honoring Vette) last summer, the sound level was very irritating so I have no problem with this. Of course, this was / is my fault for the low restrict Cat and aftermarket exhausts.

I'll Second that. When Concrete turns into Agregate, the sound is deafening, almost.

Let's add something to the Dave Hill remarks. It is said elsewhere that he said the LS1/LS6 are history when the C6 gets here. Under those circumstances the mags that say it will be a 5.7 are wrong. The LS2 and the LS7 now are even more likely.

Now this is what I like to hear! Straight from the horses mouth!!

More like to hear. A fellow named blittle from York Pa apparently wentto the Nashville bash and has said the following on another website...
Well.....after cleaning all the bugs, etc. off the car from the trip home from Nashville.......I want to add a few more things we learned from the GM guys at the seminars: Tom Peters, C6 Design Chief, gave us enough clues to see that 1. their will definitely be a nav. system available....that's the compass one guy at the Q&A semminar asked about.....following the question I looked right at the Chev. Marketing Director and said "navigation system, right?" He nodded yes.
2. the front fender curves will definitely have an "edgy look" to them.
3. the outside mirrors will be "angular" rather than the C5 type mirrors we have seen in the spy photos 4. the Coupe will be out first (July) followed by the Vert in about 6 months......the Z06 will be a 2006. 4. Both Hill and Peters indicated that the spy shots are betas and heavily cammoed. So that's about it........the car is sounding better all the time!
