Three Corvette Colors No Longer Available for MY2011
Fans of Cyber Gray, Crystal Red and Jetstream Blue will be disappointed to learn that those colors are no longer available for the remaining 2011 Corvette production. The damage from the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan is now starting to hit home... according to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal a type of shiny pigment used in these Corvette paint colors is only produced at a single plant in Japan.
GM is not the only automaker to be affected, Ford Chrysler, Volkswagen, BMW and Toyota also use the pigment known as Xirallic to give their vehicles a special sheen.
With the elimination of these three colors from the Corvette choices, a total of seven colors remain.

Wow, I have a 2010 Grand Sport in Jetstream Blue, I'm glad I decided on this color.
What does that mean for repairs at the body shop?
Most of the aftermarket paints for the body shops are produced as the new colors come out, so supply is there. but may be limited. The after market products MAY not even require the all same pigments/metals since the aftermarket products will use different spray processes/techniques/spray equipment/spray areas/ventilation/"air" drying/etc.
There will be very similar colors available that can look the same, except at very close comparisons. The average consumer would be just as happy with the replacements.
