I re-uped for the XM radio yesterday (29Dec05) on my 06 Coupe. The experience was odd enough to want to alert anyone in the same situation.
I paid for the car on Sept 23rd and picked it up at the museum on October 3rd. There are some free phone minutes on OnStar but I got a call to buy more and they added what I bought to the expiring minutes. I learned there that they were using the Sept 23 date instead of the actual ownership date of October 3rd. They extended the whole OnStar thing an additional month for my complaining. On to the the XM experience...
There were 90 days of free XM reception included in the purchase and it was quite a boon driving from Bowling Green back to Arizona. I called 1-800-929-2100 and using the "ZWINBACK" code which I said I got from the dealer they gave me an additional year of XM for $77 instead of the normal $12/month. Again I heard that the 90 days expired on December 23rd and I would have to download the connection again by tuning to station 1 for 15 minutes and that checking stations (channels?) 7 & 175 would confirm that the download was successful. I went out to the car and XM was still working! I called XM back and their records showed I was disconnected. Whatever. Stay tuned for the future reception experience.
