Nice to see you down at the NCM 10th. How was the ride in the C6? Please give us an update.

Always nice meeting internet friends for real!

Our first 500 miles in the C6 was to the NCM's 10th Anniversary this past Labor day weekend. Took it easy during the break in, but now have over 1,350 miles on her.

Background: I've had a C3, 2 C4's including a ZR1, and 4 C5's including two Z06 Corvettes. My favorite so far? The C6...The Corvette just gets better and better. The ride, comfort, handling is superb. Interior noise is greatly reduced. I opted for automatic trans with perf axle ratio, 1SB pkg, XM satellite radio, NAV system and and the Z51 perf handling pkg. Everything works perfectly. I've said the Z06 seems like it's velcroed to the road, well, the C6 Z51 is like super glued to the road!

My favorite option is the NAV system. I'm still learning what it can do, but so far I've discovered: voice or touch screen activated, screen color choice, route choice can be 1 of 3 different modes, CD or radio works when NAV system is on. The NAV prompts you with some directions in the improved HUD display. Such as, left turn arrow shows in HUD about 4/10 of a mile before you approcah your next left turn intersection and a bar graph counts down the tenths as you approach your next route change. As you enter the intersection where you're supposed to turn two beeps remind you to turn there. NAV will show you restaurants in the vicinity by displaying the appropriate icon, such as golden arches for Mikey D's, etc. NAV will also list resturants by category such as Mexican, Italian, fast food etc! Even gives you the street address and phone number! I love it!

Be glad to answer any specific questions.

Btw, I'm still reaching in my pocket for the keys as I approach the car, but need to remind myself I don't need the keys....just enter, and hit the start button!

I still don't fully understand how the keyless system works. Want to give more details as a user and not a sales-rep?

Do we get pictures?

Paragon: It's quite easy. The owner receives two sets of keys along with two key fobs. The key fobs are very similar to other GM key fobs in that you have a button to lock another to unlock, and another to open the trunk lid. There is also a 4th Emergency or Panic button on the key fob. The keys are just like any other car key..the key itself is a backup in case your key fob battery goes dead, or if you need to get into your car manually. The key hole is above the rear license plate. The key will pop the trunk lid open, and you can then pull a cable release handle to open the car door.

To use the new "keyless" system, you merely need to have the key fob on your person (pocket or purse for example). The electronics recognize the electronic signal from the fob and automatically unlocks the door as you approach your C6. Simply reach behind the door recess opening, and there is a soft membrane touch pad. In one easy motion you touch the soft membrane, and pull the door open. Sit behind the wheel and make sure your car is in "park," then push the rocker type ignition switch on the dash. BINGO! Your car starts!

After you park it, simply press the bottom edge of the ignition switch (rocker type) and the engine stops. On the inside door handle is a conveniently placed button...press this button and it activates a solenoid that pops the door open as you push it completely open with the inside grab handle...E-Z as pie! I love it.

Since I have an automatic trans, I can't explain the manual trans system, but I believe one has to put th eshift lever in Reverse, and press in the clutch before it starts...again, I'm not sure.

Hope this helps! Any questions?

Yea that helps! Sounds ridiculously cool.

What's the range?
Can you "disable" the feature (Eg - you park right in front of a diner and then go in for lunch or meet with cruise buddies, how do you keep the car locked if you get seated right thru the glass?)?

Paragon: Not sure of the range because I haven't expeerimented with it, but to lock the car after exiting you push the "lock " button on the key fob, just like any other GM key Fob. I asked one of the GM guys at the NCM 10th anniversary if you "must" press the lock button on the fob after parking your C6, and he said Yes, so that one doesn't accidentallly lock themselves out of the car with the key fob in it.

Hope this helps.

Update: In my previous post I stated that a GM guy at the NCM 10th anniversary event told me you need to push the lock button on your keyfob after exiting the parked car to lock the dorrs....not corect!

The owner can set this feature thru the DIC. That means you select your choice to automatically lock your doors or set it so that you must press the "lock" button on your key fob to lcok them.

|headscratch| Perhaps the GM rep mis-understood my question.

Hope this helps |thumb|
