I'm getting a little clunk on my 2006 C-6 automatic. I also noticed that when I first start the car, and I make a left hand turn, I hear a grinding noise. Also when backing up into the garage I get the same noise. Can someone relate to this? Only 12,600 miles, so far.

Shortlobster: Have the Dealer check the early May 08 Bulletin regarding the rear end and have then change the fluid. I haven't noticed any change to the clunk after 150 miles. The grinding on turns points to the Positraction clutches and the fluid change may cure it. My clunk appears mainly on the straightaway. I've got a Std 6 speed, not an automatic, but I believe the differentials are the same other than the gear ratios. If the clunk also dissappears please post here.
Update: Dealer fixed ~95% of the clunking problem. They didn't get into specifics but after several conversations with Corvette Tech Support, and many minor adjustments to who-knows-what, most of the clunk is gone. They knew of nothing more that could be done. All under warrenty even though the New Purchase Warrenty expired Jan 08. Generally satisfied with the result.
I too had a read end noise in my 2007 starting at 4-5,000 miles - clunking, especially when it had not been driven for a day or two. It seemed always to be there when backing up first thing in the am. The dealer said there's a bullentin on it - they changed the fluid and all seems ok at this time.
asmithcars: I believe the bulletin you refer to was published May 08 and corrects clunking noise primarily on turns. My sound came on the straigh-away. My rear end fluid was changed in May 08, in acordance with that bulletin, but had no affect on the sound coming from my car. The dealer was hoping this would cure it as well. Most of the sound is now gone thanks to a lot of time and effort on adjustments, on the Dealer's part, including the replacement of the torque tube ($3,000+). And thankfully, it was done at no charge to me after the warrenty had expired.
