I have had problems with the driver's door not completely closing when the weather is cold. This has happened even after having been driven for an hour in cold weather. I'll get out of the car, close the door as normal and the door will not close all the way. It does make a THUD sound. It almost sounds like it hit the locking mechanism. The door is closed but still open about an inch. From here, it will not just pull open, I must activate the lock in the door handle. Sometimes it takes 4 tries to close properly.

PS It is not the seat belt in the way. That is a separate problem.

Could be a weatherstrip issue, or possibly the wiring loom in the front of the door. Sounds like a trip to the dealer...

Took the car into the dealer and intially they looked at me like I was a bit strange, however it turns out there was indeed a service bulletin out for the exact problem I described. They ordered and replaced some new part(s)per the bulletin. See what happens next winter.
Did you happen to get the number of the TSB(bulletin)?
What "part(s)" does it require to repair the problem?
Hope this is not a wide-spread issue on the C6 cars('06)...might be a lot of upset owners if it is.
Please keep us informed.

My driver's door started doing the same thing a few weeks ago. the car is a C6/Z51 coupe. I opened and closed the door slowly while sitting in the seat. It felt like the door hinge was letting the door drop slightly when opened and would slightly lift the door while closing the door. The lift and drop felt like is was occurring just as the forward part of the door cleared the threshold.
This weekend the door/window was really acting up. Sitting in the seat I opened and closed the door and may have found the problem. The window did not lower to break the seal (electrically lowers about 1/2 inch when the door open button is depressed). This made a catch when the door was opened and a rather noticeable noise when the door was closed. This is going to be one of those problems that will haunt me for sure, because, today the window started working correctly again.
One of those problems that will not be present when it goes in for service.

Even after the dealer's "fix", I am still having the same problem with the door not closing only when ~ 35 degrees or colder. The condition is the same as described by the previous post where is "feels" like the door dropped about a half inch, however the automatic window lowere/raising works fine. I find that I have to slam the door several times before it will close. This will happen either after sitting all night, or after a 35 mile ride home from work.
I'll be back at the dealer soon.

Bummer

Man, reading all these posts about the door not closing, I can relate. I thought I was maybe closing it differently which caused this. Same symptom; feels as if the door is hinky by a half inch. And, as with other owners with this problem, it's intermittent. In Hawaii they call these little come-and-go buggahs "Menehunes", Pronounced Men Eh Hoo Nee. Only bit me twice in 30,000 miles. Hope that menehune caught a flight back to da rock. Knock on plastic.
