Most likely alignment issues. Corvettes are notorious for alignment issues from the factory (or so I have read).

But 34,000 out of a set of Goodyear runflats is almost unheard of.  About the best i have heard is 20,000 - 25l000.  I am sure some have gotten more, but many more have gotten a lot less (15-20,000 most num ber reported).

have the camber set as close to "0" as posible at alignment shop. stock setting is for high speed handling but if you do a lot of open road driving the tires will wear out on the inside edges. i learned this on my 97 and when talking to a corvette engineer at carlisle he told me the change the camber setting

Goodyear front tire was faulty and wore out at 12,000 Miles. Alignment was fine. I've had trouble with Goodyear tires on new GM products for years, short life, noise and uneven wear.  I have not bought a aftermarket Goodyear tire for over twenty years due problems with OEM tires including Corvette. I use other manufactures tires and they handle better (over 1G on the 2006 Z51 Corvette) wear longer, less tire noise and vibration not related to balance.

Wheel alignment is set to allow easier handling (corners / curves) at speed (highway and otherwise).  This is not uncommon for many high end marques, and high performance vehicles.  That being said, I also concur ... 30,000+ miles is a birthday AND anniversary present wrapped in one.  I have 18K miles ... tread is at 3/32 (1 tire), and 4/32 (3 tires).  I believe my tires came with 9/32 tread ... so that means 5/32 have been utilized over 18,000 miles.  ZR rated tires generally do not offer a longevity warranty, since they are considered high performance tires, and as such, are expected to see spirited driving habits.

Personally, I like Michelin's on my German sedans.  When I have to replace the Goodyears, I will likely consider Goodyear (not runflats), or Michelins.  Corvette Racing switched over to Michelins a while ago ... perhaps it is a financial sponsorship move ... but I am willing to consider changing to a manufacturer with which I already have good experience.

In the past month I have replaced the original Goodyears on my C6. I'd driven them just more than 30,000 miles and the right front was worn to the point of being dangerous because the alignment was just a little out of spec. I went with Michelin Pilot Sports, mostly because everyone I know who has put them onto a C5 or C6 has been very happy with them.

The Goodyears on a standard C6 are D.O.T. rated for tread life at a value of 300. The larger and softer Goodyears on a Z06 are rated for tread life at only 220, if I recall correctly. The Michelin Pilot Sports in the standard C6 sizes have a D.O.T. tread life rating of 500. I hope to get 50,000 miles or so out of them.

By the way, everyone around here with a C6 is experiencing front tires wearing out much faster than the rears, and that seems to be counter-intuative. A recent discussion among my club members who have experienced this came to the conclusion that the C6 scuffs the fronts on turns much more than a C5 or earlier chassis. Although my front tires were worn to about 4/32's, my rears still had more than 7/32s left. When new the fronts supposedly had 10/32s, and the rears 11/32.

I just sold my used rear Goodyears to another C6 owner who suffered uneven wear on the rear due to bad alignment. He might be able to get another 15,000 miles out of them if he keeps the alignment adjusted. It seems alignment should be checked two or three times per year, if you want to keep your expensive tires wearing evenly.

Wow! Thats great mileage for a set of run-flats. I got 18,000 miles on  original Goodyears. Replaced with Michelin, will see how they last, with a 500 treadwear rating vs the OEM Goodyears with a 300 rating.

I had to replace the front tires on my "11" Grand Sport after 10,000 miles, inside edges were worn badly.  Factory alignment was inaccurate.  Had a four wheel alignment done when I replaced the fronts.  The rear tires need replacing now after 13,000 miles.  Again the same problem with the inside edges wearing badly.

Yes, I have to agree that you did well with your tires.  My original tires were replaced at 25,800 with the same problem, worn on the inside edge of the fronts, right down to the cords!  I had cupping issues at around 12,000 and the dealer did an alignment.  I think the dealer made it worse.  I bought Michelin Pilot Sports and am very happy with them so far, after 9,000 miles.  And the noise is gone too.  I will not buy Goodyear ever!

WOW!  34k on Goodyear run-flats is OUTSTANDING!!!  My OEM Goodyears were shot at about 20k with NO alignment issues.  I replaced them with Firestone run-flats and they did not much better but were not as noisy.  Then I went to Michelin Pilot All-Weather run flats.  They are now over 20k (car has 67k) and are not quite at 1/2 original tread depth - - so I'm very happy with them.

fp_vetter07 said: Anyone having issue's with your tires? I have 34,000 on mine and had it in for oil change and they found that my front tires were coming apart. The belts are showing all the way around the inside edge of the front tires. They are ready to seperate, some of you folks might want to check the inside edge of yours.Confused

We should realize ... the OP never indicated whether or not they were Goodyear, or run-flats.  There is a chance the tires were replaced at some point in time.  We should also remember, alignment issues are not a tire defect.  Switching tires or tire brands will not fix the issue if the original problem is not addressed.
