My C6's VIN is within the VIN breakpoint (before 55111039) of this TSB and has ~5500 miles on the car. It is a Black Z51 automatic and I got the car in November. Last weekend my wife and I took the car for a day trip and started to hear what sounded like an idler pully bearing going out or a high belt squeal. The car was put in the shop on Wednesday and at first the shop could not get the car to make the noise ,,, they were just letting the car idle. I made them take it out for a test drive and the sound came through loud and clear. I got the car back on Friday afternoon and they had replaced the tensioner and the drive belt. Sure thing no more noise! I had seen several posting about a "CRANK Problem" but could not find the TSB number ,,, neither could the shop manager. God bless the person who posted the TSB on another website about Corvette issues (I found the posting an hour before the shop closed). I went outside and pressed two fingers atop the crank bolt and was able to rock the bolt side to side a very small distance, not finger loose yet, but getting there!!! I called the shop manager ASAP with the TSB number (05-06-01-001A) and had him looked up the TSB himself. The parts are in the process of being ordered. The car is setting in my garage at home and will not be moved until the shop is ready to work on it. I think I will pay the tow charge to have it taken to the dealer's shop!!! I also spoke to the sales manager today and gave him a copy of the TSB as well and expressed to him it would be a real good idea to contact each owner that he has sold a C6 to within the VIN Breakpoint (before 55111039). I hope the "diamond washer" will fix my C6! I drive the car everday and I have missed having it last week and I am almost sick at the idea of how long it will be before it is SAFE to drive it again. My other concern is how intrusive the repair is and how many other shop trips will there be to correct the correction. Please take some advice if you own a C6 within the VIN breakpoint, don't think it can't happen to yours ,,, watch the CRANK BOLT!!! I traded a 5 month old 2004 C5 in on this C6, I have owned other Corvettes besides these ,,, even with this problem it is the best Corvette I have ever owned or driven. LOVE MY C6!!! Just want it FIXED!!! I wanted to post the TSB number here so other will have this information to provide to their shop managers. Many C6 owners have seen this problem cause major damage to their C6's!!!

Thanks for the info.
Could you please either post a link to the TSB you are talking about, or copy and paste the info into this post?

That way, others can benefit from your experience.

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks!

The TSB can be found in the following thread from Corvette Forum:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1038771

I did get my C6 back yesterday with the "special washer" installed. So far no problems!!! It took about 2 shop days to do the repair and a couple a days before that to get the parts. I am glad to have my C6 back!!! |rollysmile|

STILL LOVE THE CAR!!!
